5 Forest Zones in Karma

Karma unfolds across 5 forest zones, each with its own rhythm, purpose and story to tell. Bamboo groves pull carbon from the air and cool the summer heat, while a sacred forest carries forward centuries-old traditions from Coorg. Native species return to reclaim their place in a restored Haryana landscape, over 10,000 trees rise into a canopy built for quiet and renewal, and a young ficus forest inches its way into an evolving rewilding journey. Together, these zones capture something rare: a place where every step through the trail reveals a little more about how nature restores itself, and leaves you curious for what the next turn might bring.

Bamboo Forest

Carbon Sink Zone

Nature’s fastest-growing climate solution.

The Bamboo Forest is a living example of how nature can help restore ecological balance. Home to a diverse collection of bamboo species, this thriving landscape serves as a natural carbon sink, absorbing significantly more carbon dioxide while releasing nearly 35% more oxygen than conventional trees.

A bamboo plantation can absorb up to 12 tonnes of carbon dioxide per hectare every year, making it one of the most effective natural allies in addressing climate change. During summer, its dense canopy naturally lowers the surrounding temperature by as much as 8°C, creating a cooler and more comfortable environment. Remarkably resilient, bamboo requires minimal maintenance, very little water and grows without the use of pesticides or herbicides. Even after harvesting, it regenerates from its existing root system, protecting the soil while continuously renewing the forest.

The forest is home to Bambusa tulda, Thyrsostachys oliveri, Bambusa balcooa, Dendrocalamus longispathus, Oxytenanthera abyssinica, Bambusa pallida, Bambusa mizorameana, Schizostachyum pergracile, Golden Bamboo (Phyllostachys), Dendrocalamus strictus, Dendrocalamus asper and Bambusa multiplex hedge bamboo, showcasing the remarkable diversity of this extraordinary plant.

Sustained using recycled water from McDonald’s and the adjoining Godrej Frontier residential community, the Bamboo Forest reflects how responsible resource management can nurture resilient landscapes.

Stretching across 1,525 metres with approximately 2,000 steps, the trail winds through a remarkable collection of bamboo species, offering an immersive experience within one of nature’s most effective carbon sinks.

Devakad Sacred Forest

Inspired by ancient traditions of conservation.

Derived from the sacred forests of Kodagu (Coorg), the Devakad Sacred Forest celebrates a tradition where nature has long been protected for its ecological, cultural and spiritual significance. Today, it continues that legacy as a flourishing biodiversity zone.

Designed as a mixed forest, it supports a vibrant network of flowering plants, fruit-bearing trees, native vegetation, birds, butterflies, bees and pollinators. Every element contributes to a healthy ecosystem, creating a landscape where biodiversity continues to thrive.

As the seasons change, so does the forest, offering new colours, fragrances and wildlife experiences throughout the year while strengthening the ecological richness of the landscape.

The forest is sustained through recycled water from the Godrej Frontier residential community, demonstrating how responsible water stewardship supports long-term ecological restoration.

Spanning 820 metres and approximately 1,108 steps, the trail meanders through a flourishing mixed forest where native vegetation, birds, butterflies and pollinators come together to create a vibrant ecosystem.

Karma Biodiversity Park

Eco Restoration Zone

Restoring native ecosystems, one species at a time.

The Biodiversity Park has been created to restore the natural ecology of the region by reintroducing native species that have evolved alongside Haryana’s climate, soil and wildlife for millions of years.

Home to more than 60 species of native trees, shrubs and grasses, the park reflects the resilience of indigenous landscapes. Naturally adapted to local conditions, these species require significantly less water, fertilisers and maintenance while creating healthier, self-sustaining ecosystems.

The park provides valuable habitat for birds, butterflies, pollinators and countless other species, encouraging biodiversity to flourish while strengthening ecological balance across the landscape.

Sustained using recycled water from the Monsoon Breeze residential community, the Biodiversity Park demonstrates how environmental restoration can create lasting ecological impact.

Covering 1,525 metres with approximately 2,000 steps, the trail showcases more than 60 species of native trees, shrubs and grasses, offering a closer look at the ecological richness of Haryana’s tropical thorn forests.
